What, a software job in Sweden .. Dude.. software is made either in US or in India…
Wow… Sweden.. Europe.. lucky man..
Hey… get used to living without sun… and better buy some really warm clothes..
These were some of the responses I got when I told people that I have taken up a work assignment in Stockholm, Sweden. I chose to ignore the warnings and embrace the ‘wow’s and so here I am.. in Stockholm ..
The country has a population of just 9.2 Million and a total area of around 450,000 km2. Comparing it with New Delhi from where i come with a population of around 10 Million and area around 43 km2, I hardly expected to see people on streets here, but to my surprise, on the way to my apartment from Airport, i met with a traffic jam! .. The surprise continued for the next few days with crowded trains, busy market streets and waiting queues outside restaurants … As it turns out, majority of Sweden population is restricted to a couple of metro cities and Stockholm tops the list.
Having said that, within the first couple of days I realized that the decision to come to Sweden would be one of the best one in my life… Beautiful city, even more beautiful women, excellent weather (at least for now!), cool working culture, almost no language problem with most people understanding English, amazing connectivity with trains and buses .. availability of almost all of Indian grocery stuff and above all.. a chance to travel all around Europe within next one year with really cheap air fares ..
So keep watching this space for my travelling adventures around Europe.. :)
I'm going to say WOW too, and a big one at that :) and looking forward to reading all about your travels there
