Cruise to Tallin, 6-7th Oct 2012

The one major tourist attraction in Stockholm is to take one of the overnight party cruises, which go either to one of the Baltic cities (Tallin/Riga) or to Finland (Helsinki/Aland).…. These entertainment cruises, run primarily by three companies (Viking, Silja line and Birka) leave Stockholm during the evening around 5 PM(we usually take the Friday evening) and reach the destination next morning around 9 AM. Tourists are then allowed the day in the city, and leaves back for Stockholm the same evening. So basically you get around 6-7 hours to spend at the destination port. We took the Silja line cruise to Tallin, which is generally considered the best in terms of entertainment programs on board, and also for the selection of items in their duty free shops.

Upon reaching Tallin, we spent the day roaming around in the old town (which was around 15 min walk from port), had lunch at an Indian restaurant (awesome food with an ambiance to match... 'Restoran Bollywood'), took the tourist train ride which gave us a glimpse of the complete old town and then just enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather, with some icecreams and coffee.. :)
